Local musician and American Idol participant (Season 9 & 10) Luke James Shaffer returns for an encore performance this Friday at the Farm Women's Market from Noon-2pm. Luke is a DC based singer/songwriter/guitarist. At his live shows you can expect a wide range of well known music from Johnny Cash to Rihanna, from The Beatles to Mumford & Sons. In his original material you can bet on upbeat, energetic, hopeful and happy acoustic folk pop or "folkpopcoustic" as he likes to call it. He tries to focus on uplifting and encouraging themes when writing his original music. Thoughtful songs that will make you smile, tap your foot and hopefully hit the replay button.

New vendor, Yeti Shaved Ice was started in 2011 by two Virginia natives both with the same entrepreneurial spirit and inherent need to be their own bosses and create something unique. Yeti Shaved Ice strives to reach out to the local community offering a place to gather, socialize and enjoy the tastes and sounds of summer. Yeti prides itself on promoting American living and small business. "We hope to gain the loyalties of the local community giving them a place to cool down on the hottest of summer days", say co-owner Brian Searby. "And yes, we know "Shave Ice" is the original way to spell it. But since that is bad English, we decided to stick with Shaved Ice", added Brian. Nothing like it on a hot summer day!
